Health Help

I would create an app in the health sector that is like a personal doctor in the palm of your hand. The app would be called “Health Help”. It will periodically check in on you and ask about your current physical state, or you can open the app when you have questions about improving your health or if you feel sick. You could type the conditions you are experiencing, and the app will ask clarifying questions to diagnose you and provide effective treatments. The app would use an algorithm that compares your data to individuals with similar health criteria. For example, if you have high blood pressure and are feeling symptoms, the app would recommend treatments that have worked for you in the past. If that does not work, it would recommend treatments for other individuals with similar health criteria (age, weight, gender, etc). After you try a treatment, you would explain to the app if the treatment results, and if it didn’t work, it would provide you with another treatment. As more people use the app, more data will be added to the algorithm, making its diagnosis and treatments more precise and effective.

The app will be very unbiased and harmful regarding passing the algorithm audit. For data integrity, we can trust the data because it would be in the user’s best interest to provide honest feedback since the data they enter will be used to benefit them in the future. The effectiveness and speed in which the users’ treatments result from their feedback, so if that data was used to determine a treatment for another individual, the data can be trusted. The platform defines success as providing effective treatments on the first attempt. Once again, the app’s definition of success will not cause bias since every app user would want the same. In terms of accuracy, this model would fail individuals with unique health criteria. However, the app also learns from errors, so if treatments do not work, it will learn not to suggest them as much on the individual level. Lastly, the long-term effects of the app would be positive. Users would understand their bodies better and have treatments at the click of a button if they develop any ailments. With honest user feedback (since it benefits them), all other users will benefit since extra data can make treatments more precise.
