My online “presence”

Biography:

Christian Agreda is a current senior and a member of Pi Kappa Phi at Washington and Lee University. He attended Mahwah High School as a high-achieving varsity athlete. One season, his high win record led to him receiving an “All County Honorable Mention” award. Additionally, he participated in American Legion Boys State, one of the most selective programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students, where he was elected as County Sheriff.

Process:

Although I had accounts like Facebook and Instagram, I never posted anything on them other than location. I just never had any interest in sharing my life. Instead, I just used them to communicate with friends. Therefore, I was not too surprised when I could not find any information on myself via social media platforms. The only one that came up was my Instagram, which is private, and the only information in the bio is my high school, current college, and fraternity.

Sadly, there were no results for my name on the Wayback Machine. However, after a quick google search, I found a horrible image of myself that Professor Lloyd had used to embarrass me once during class. Next, I found my statesman profile, which had my hometown and information given to me at the program. Additionally, I found information on my academic and sports awards from high school. A wrestling website showed all the details of my wrestling career. There were also links to pamphlets of awards nights where my name is mentioned next to my academic and sports awards.

Frankly, my web presence has not changed over time. If anything, it has gotten worse since I deleted all my social media platforms. With my name only linked to my high school and a program I participated in, it’s difficult to find much information about me online. A researcher would even have difficulty finding a current photo of me, let alone any information about my current hobbies or the type of person I am.
